As for a spring summer 2010 season: orange is a colour that will bring the attention to your lips. It’s bright, it’s powerful and absolutely trendy. This intense color comes in an array of vibrant hues which is a must for spring. MAC Senior Artist Lynsey Alexander’s advice: “Orange looks best against a nude tanned olive skin with lots of black mascara and little else”.

Makeup artists point at earthy tones on the contrary to the vivid orange. Delicate, neutral lips in pastel colours require a great deal of smoothness and moisturization. Inverted bob – Victoria Beckham

Also known as ‘Pob’ (a combo of ‘Posh’ and ‘bob’). Victoria’s hair front is longer than the back, which is cut very close to the nape of the neck. This hairstyle boosts hair’s volume (especially sparse ones’) to the state you’ve always dreamed about!

Asymmetric bob – Rihanna

Rihanna’s bob is based on the mid-length hair. It is parted on the side and cut to a shorter length on one side. The other side is left to fall to a shoulder level length to create a truly edgy hairstyle. I miss this ’architectural’ cut so much.

Long bob – Katy Perry

One of the hottest trends this season. Katy’s hair is shoulder-length, shorter at the nape of the neck. It is said to be inspired by Uma Turman in “Pulp Fiction”. This is a perfect variation for a round face. Racy, but sweet, very girlie.

1. Violet

This is a statement colour for fall. This time violet has to be both daring and cheerful. You can choose from different shades like lavender, plum and aubergine, but make sure to apply the eyeshadow skillfully. Otherwise you will look tired and the shadows under your eyes will be exposed. 2. Blue

Blue is the colour I never dare to experiment with and it is rather reserved for the summer time. Anyway, this fall designers (such as Marc Jacobs) suggest to mix two blue shades: navy and light blue. A navy one should be applied on the upper eyelid while the light blue will need to find its place in the inner parts of the eye (the ones next to the nose).

3. Smoky eyes

They are perfect for the nighttime and for the parties in general. For fall 2009 it has to look a bit ‘unkept’ – as if it was smeared. Smoky eyes require a toned skin and a nude lipstick, so forget that ultra trendy 40s’-inspired daring red lips! See how Zac Posen does it.

4. Gold

Classic shades (including gold) never go out of fashion. Just use your voguish instinct to spice up a gold eyeshadow with some copper shades and go for the latest clothing trends like animal prints, safari or neons (see: Carolina Herrera – beauty).

5. Pearly

Pearly shades of white and pink are back as the eyeshadows for fall 2009 and they are a must-have for every romatic heart. Remember to create an exquisite frame: accentuated eyebrows and/or red lips (see: Matthew Williamson).

For the couple of seasons the main beauty trends were based on either accentuation on eyes or lips. But this fall is the time of a so called Total Look. It is a groomed, complete make-up often called a full make-up which derives from 1980s’. The main guideline is to accentuate both eyes and lips. Also remember about the background – make your skin look radiant and sweep over the apples of your cheeks with a cheek powder for an ’80s finish and natural flush.

Extreme eyebrows

Eyebrows are responsible for the overal facial expression so it’s important to pluck them properly. For this fall and winter they look extreme because the glam rock make-up needs a heavy background. First thing to achieve a trendy eyebrow look is to set them in order with a colourless eyebrow gel. Then intensify their colour with a shade: a lighter one if you’re dark-haired, darker if you’ve got fair hair.

Daring red lips

Classic red lipstick is the most important detail of the fall 2009 make-up. Satin, shiny, mat – every type is permitted as long as it gives your lips an intense and saturated colour. Apply it with a lipstick brush or a fingertip to achieve an elegant look. A good idea is to apply the first layer of the lipstick heavily, drain off the excess and then re-apply another layer. This will make your lipstick stay longer.

Chignons

Slick buns, corrugated topknots and back-combed chignons are the trendiest hairstyles right now. They are easy to make and even easier do wear. They go with the high collars of the autumnal coats and winter fur. Off-centered buns can also reveal the back part of the neck which is considered as a highly erotogenic zone.

Voluminous hair

XXL volume hair is a must and this is a statement right from the best catwalks. Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de La Renta and Prada condemn flat hair for fall 2009 and winter 2010. Forget slicked-back hair, today it’s a fine toothed comb and a hairspray that will lead you to an ultra trendy teased hairstyle. I once read that to achieve super fine teased roots some hairdressers use a…toothbrush!

Headbands

They can be used instead of hats just in case you don’t like 1940s’ splendour. Just feel free to use your imagination to create a perfect hair looks with the ultimate hair accessory. It can be an elegant aliceband with feathers or a wide jewelry encrusted headband. Designers also suggest going for oversized bows or…leather gloves on the top of your head!
