Looks like catwalk turned to a ballet stage as ballerinas are everywhere! Giambattista Valli, Christian Dior, Elie Saab, Kenzo, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Roberto Cavalli, Rodarte, Versace and most of all Balmain wowed the catwalk audience. They used lace, tulle, ribbons and ruffled princess dresses that imitate ballet dancers.
British Vogue also quotes Charles Anastase, Nina Ricci, John Rocha, Jonathan Saunders, Pollini, Sonia Rykiel, Sue Stemp, Erdem and Bora Aksu. Yes, the list is very long so I will dare to say that it’s one of the leading spring summer 2009 trends.

Then there is Elie Saab and Giambatista Valli who vamped the trend with some colour, Kenzo who used fringes, Marc Jacobs and Roberto Cavalli who didn’t resist to join it with floral patterns.
Ballet has never been this edgy – take a look at the spiced up Rodarte designs with reticulations, chains, leather masochist gloves and cut-out elements. Versace and Fendi recall that there is no ballerina without a highlighted waist, so why don’t you ballet-up your tulle or lace-covered dress that looks like from the ballet stage with a fine trendy belt.
