A May 2009 Vogue Magazine cover is the exceptional one. It is because the three stars: Kate Moss, Marc Jacobs and Justin Timberlake have teamed up to have been photographed by a fourth star – Annie Leibovitz.
The cover presents Moss as the eternal muse, who’s wearing (surprise surprise) a Marc Jacobs‘ metallic-lamé dress. Her artistic pose requires Justin’s help, her calves on the other hand are being embraced by Marc Jacobs himself. The other photoshoot photography shows Kate Moss lying on the sofa in Oscar de la Renta’s evening dress with a tulle-and-silk train.
The article generally unveils “The Model as Muse” Costume Institute gala’s idea, which Jacobs (honorary chair) and Timberlake (cochair) were to host at the Metropolitan Museum. Mark Jacobs made some memorable quotes on models’ style reffering to the idea of “The Model as Muse” name:
- “It isn’t Kate’s personal style that interests me. It’s her person; it’s the life and the spirit.”
- “Besides having a look or a style, these women [Linda, Christy, Naomi, Cindy, Claudia] have a lifestyle. If Naomi [Campbell] were very well behaved and always on time, and didn’t have her little tantrums, I don’t know that she’d still be around and traveling like Elizabeth Taylor with an entourage.”
Some Marc Jacobs‘ quotes on fashion:
- “Since watching the Golden Globes, I thought, There’s absolutely nothing more tedious than a long, strapless dress to the floor in a mermaid shape. I can’t bear it. It doesn’t look young, it doesn’t look glamorous—it’s just old. It’s become a generic experience.”
- “A collection is just that—a collection of thoughts, ideas, and experiences, trials and errors, editing and adding. It’s something that unfolds.”
