Anne Hathaway – Armani Privé or Jill Stuart?

Today it is Anne Hathaway whose dresses are being compared and this time it’s going to be harder, because her Armani Privé gown that she wore at the 81st Annual Academy Awards and a Jill Stuart mini-dress from the Cartier 100th Anniversary were totally different.

Earlier this year at the Oscars, Anne was seen wearing a silver Armani Privé gown. This Spring 2009 gown was a well-fitted, mermaid-style dress. It was already covered with jewel embellishments, so she chose rather toned Cartier jewels.

When it comes to Cartier, she hit the red carpet for their 100th Anniversary in an incredibly short Jill Stuart mini-dress (some sources say that it might have been Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 – the midnight blue dress was modified so it can be the reason why it didn’t resemble its runway model). Anne Hathaway enhanced her dramatic looks with old-fashioned black sheer stockings showing seam at the back and black peep toe Casadei heels.

81st Annual Academy Awards

Straight from Hollywood – quick post about this year’s Oscars! As we might have expected, 81st Academy Awards was a star-studded bash . Despite the crisis reaching almost its peak (hopefully), stars did strut around in truly expensive gowns and a borrowed jewellery.

Basically, the gala was dominated with the triumph of ‘Slumdog’ and lots of spring summer 2009 trends – one-shouldered, jewel encrusted, mermaid-style dresses, fringing, wonderful jewellery – especially bracelets, cuffs, huge earrings and everything accessorized with the greatest selection of clutches. As for colours: black, gold, pink and cream.

66th Annual Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet

The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards was full of celebrities wearing the finest gowns designed by the greatest fashion designers. International Herald Tribune has wrote that it was by far the most glamorous Globes ever. The pictures presented below are taken from the red carpet, the InStyle and Warner Bros. Studios Golden Globes and Showtime Golden Globes after-parties.

Kate Winslet who won best performance by an actress award in a supporting role in ‘The Reader’ movie, wore a classic, strapless gown by Yves Saint Laurent. She looked glamorous, but black wasn’t the leading colour of the night. Apparently, it was white: there was Kate Beckinsale at J. Mendel‘s dress, Beyoncé at Elie Saab‘s dress, Salma Hayek, Amanda Bynes and Eva Mendes at Christian Dior who went all white.

On the other hand, there were these fashionably navy gowns worn by Anne Hathaway (jewel toned dress by Giorgio Armani Privé) and Hayden Panettiere at Gianfranco Ferre. Some celebrities opted for a luminous gold, like Megan Fox (gown by Ralph Lauren) and Jennifer Lopez (Marchesa), while Eva Longoria went for a lovely red Reem Acra. Everyone was in love with Drew Barrymore‘s gown by John Galliano for Dior that she looked in like a naiad.

My fav gowns were the ones worn by two Evas: Mendes and Longoria.
